1912 W. Lunt Avenue is the Valley House. Owner: Marlene Valley

This house was part of the 1989 Annual Fall House Tour.

Circa - 1879 - 1900

This Italianate architecture two-story house with multiple roofs has simple gable roof lines with two enclosed porches. All the windows in this house except the front porch windows are wood encasement with shutters.

Stepping off the porch and into the house, the entrance greets you with a lighted octagon base and cone uppers antique lamp which was in the dining room until recently (1989). The series of archways though out the first floor gives way to much space and plenty of sunshine.

To the left of the foyer, is one large room with an artificial fireplace and its original mantle. The fine band swag ornamentation gives class to this fixture. This area is being used as a main parlor and family room. On the right, there is the dining room and the second enclosed porch which is now used as an office.

This arch continues into the kitchen which was completely redone. The original powder room is there was remodeled. The door next to the powder room leads to the second floor.

From the foyer, the second floor can be reached by this fantastic, walnut, curved staircase. On reaching the second floor, immediately ahead, there is this T-shaped walkway, which takes you into the master bedroom. This area is gaily adorned with 50-100 year-old quilts, embroidered table cloth and throw pillow covers.

The second and third bedroom are to the left and right of the longer part of the T-hallway. The beautiful oak floors throughout the house add grandeur to the rooms.

Continuing north of the long part of the walkway, you step down onto this very modern bathroom. This area was remodeled recently. Marlene Valley also did most of the art work that can be seen in the bathroom and in the upper part of the house.

The Valley family also enjoy and maintain a wonderful patio deck that is just off the kitchen. Some landscaping was also done to complement the patio.
