The Tannen House is a two-story with a gabled roof and widow's watch in the attic. The cedar shingles were put on in the 1930s. The front porch was rebuilt in the fall of 1991.

The living room has colonial windows and a window seat, coved ceiling, picture frame doorways and windows, and pocket doors.

The sitting room contains bay windows, with three small windows above and a window seat. A metal ceiling and painted metal wainscot complement this comfortable room.

The music room also has a coved ceiling and pocket doors. Built-in bookcases on either side of the fireplace make this an inviting setting.

The kitchen was remodeled in 1977 by Richard Kollath, a Rogers Park architect. It is in the Euro-style with recessed lighting and golden oak trim. As part of the remodeling, the back stairs were opened up. Notice the stained glass window on the stairway.

The dining room, with its teak trim, was once a porch, but was enclosed in 1974. The room also has a game table.

The Tannens stripped and stained all the oak floors on the first floor, and the oak staircase, returning them to their original beauty. The staircase features the original molded plaster wainscot.

The second floor features six rooms plus a bath. In five of these rooms, the original flooring was replaced with oak. Around 1980, the floors were stripped and some of the floor boards were replaced.

The first bedroom has colonial windows and a window seat. Coved ceilings and the original pine floor lend an historic touch.

The TV room has oak floors, a large closet, and a half-moon window. The exercise room, distinguished mainly by its four doors, is a modern convenience frequently enjoyed.

The sitting room, a small eaved room, contains a marble-topped dresser obtained from an old house on Albion Avenue.

The anteroom is a small room that leads to the guest bedroom overlooking the back yard. This room once was a porch. It was enclosed in 1974.

The upstairs bath was remodeled in the fall of 1992 and now (1993) contains a small jacuzzi bath.
