This house represents a American Craftsman Chicago Bungalow. Though somewhat unassuming from the outside, the interior of the house is a stunning example of turn of the 20th Century workmanship. Many of the features expected in a Craftsman-style home are present here. The dining room has plate rail woodwork and a beamed ceiling and there are built-in benches and a fireplace in the living room.

The interior of the house has changed little over the years with one important exception -- the open staircase leading to the second floor. It was most likely removed from a demolished vintage building, the salvaged elements harmonizing with the original design.

The second floor, built as an open storage area, has been finished to create a loft-style space that can be used for a variety of functions.

Tom and K.T. purchased this home in the fall of 1998 and have furnished it with period pieces from around the country, including a Limbert dining room table and a chandelier with art glass shades. Before leaving, be sure to see the first floor bathroom, complete with original sink, wainscotting, tile, and clawfoot tub.
