Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

Louis Beck tin and hardware dealer was born in Evanston, Illinois, Friday, May 20, 1859. His parents, John Beck and Eva Beck, settled in Evanston in 1859. where his father was engaged in the tannery business for some years, and afterward for five years in the varnish business. In 1871, they moved to Glencoe, Illinois, where they now reside, and engaged in farming and stock-raising. Louis Beck learned his trade With J.S. Haywood, of Evanston. and for sometime worked for Wigein & Lingren. He was then connected with his brother, Charles Beck, in the hardware business up to 1883, when he came to Rogers Park and purchased the tin and hardware store of John McCarthy. Louis Beck was married to Minnie Beck, nee: Minnie Teitzen of Fredonia, Wisconsin, Sunday, October 31, 1880.

They have one child: Charles C. Beck
