Ben Franklin-Touhy Dime Store

Ben Franklin Stores had a store at 28xx W. Touhy Avenue. It was a "double store," meaning that the common wall between two stores was removed to allow free passage between sides.

Unlike Woolworths, Ben Franklin didn't have a lunch counter.

Ben Franklin Stores are organized using a franchise system, with individual stores owned by independent proprietors. It was perhaps the first retail franchise, starting in 1927.
