Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

Charles W. Hallman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, November 21, 1849. He was connected there with the carpet house of G.W. Hill and then with that of Boyd, White & Co., then afterward William Hughes. He came to Chicago Monday, February 9, 1874, with Mr. Hughes and connected himself with the firm of Jackson & Hughes, which afterward became Bean, Hughes & Co., the present firm, and of which Mr. Hallman is cashier.

He has resided in Rogers Park since August, 1870. He was elected member of the first Board of Trustees of the village, and was also re-elected to serve the second term.

He was married to Mary A. Hallman, nee: Mary A. Kllis, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sunday, June 22, 1873. They have three children—Frank E. Hallman, Clara V. Hallman, and Edna A. Hallman.
