Chicago Academy of Surgery Soundex Code C220

Chicago Tribune, Wednesday, April 22, 1914, page 23: Chicago Surgical Society's name changed to Chicago Academy of Surgery.

This change was evidently connected to a lawsuit announced in the Tribune, Friday, January 9, 1914, page 11, in which an older organization named the Chicago Surgical Society complained about a new corporation that was using their name. This older society was founded in 1900 and is still active today (http://chicagosurgical.org/about.html).

Since we can't determine to which older society someone was a member before 1914, we'll list all memberships in the Chicago Surgical Society on the same page. We assume those listed below were members of this society since 1914. Whether they were members of either of the older societies, cannot be determined just because they claim membership to this one.
