Patrick Cudahy was the brother of John "Jack" Cudahy.
In 1888, the John Plankinton Company, successor to the Plankinton, Armour and Company was about to be closed because John Plankinton was in failing health. Patrick Cudahy, partner of John Plankinton and Patrick's brother John "Jack" Cudahy leased the plant and continued it in the same meat packing business until 1893, when the business was incorporated as the Cudahy Brothers with Patrick as President.
