education: public schools of Dayton, Ohio; High School, Huron, South Dakota; graduated: Miami Commercial College, Dayton, Ohio;

married: Lulu Estelle Shank, nee: Lulu Estelle Brosier, in Hamilton, Ohio, on July 19, 1893;

son: Clifford Everett Shank.

First business connection was with the Beadle County National Bank, Huron, South Dakota;

late manager of the Southern Immigrant newspaper at Chattanooga, Tennessee and Memphis, Tennessee;

later purchasing agent Dayton Globe Iron Works, Dayton, Ohio;

after that in brokerage business in Chicago,

and since 1903 president of E.L. Shank & Company, brokers in commercial paper and bonds.
