Fairfield Avenue Soundex Code F614

2732 W. from 7424 N. to 11458 S. This street is in West Ridge from Fargo south to Bryn Mawr - ONLY

The City Council passed a lengthy ordinance January 14, 1895, rationalizing the street naming system. At this time, Fairfield did not extend north to Rogers Park. So all addresses in Rogers Park on Fairfield do not require conversion.

Not listed in the 1895, 1897, 1898, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 Chicago Blue Book

Asa C. Fairfield, for whom this street was probably named, was a Chicago landowner and developer in 1891.

Another possibility is that the street was named after Fort Fairfield, Maine, which in turn was named in honor of Colonel John Fairfield (1797-1847). The Colonel was a 2-term Governor of Maine from 1838-1843.
