Evanston street numbering does not agree with Chicago street numbering

Named for Luther L. Greenleaf (1821-1886), citizen of Evanston 1860 to 1875. Trustee and benefactor to Northwestern University and one of the founders of the Evanston Free Public Library.

Greenleaf Street was an early name for Greenleaf Avenue.

The street was named after Luther Greenleaf subdivider in 1835. Mr. Greenleaf helped Pat Touhy carry out the will of Philip Rogers. Also known as Greenleaf Avenue, and Dearborn Avenue.
