Hema Potla is the Chef and Owner of this establishment. She came from the City of Hyderabad, India. Hema learned the art of cooking from her late husband Ln Sam Potla.
Hemas Kitchen was opened in the year 1992. It grew from a side-street Indian restaurant on Oakley Avenue to become the first-ever Indian restaurant to be featured on WTTW Channel 11's show, "Check Please," where it was voted as "The Best Indian Restaurant in Chicago."
Hema has a second location in Lincoln Park.
