Came to Chicago (1890) and engaged in publishing business, in which remained until 1904.

Publications include: various productions of the late Murat Halstead and others;

Engaged as a dealer in investment securities in 1905, under the firm name of H.L. Barber & Co.;

Also editor of Investing for Profit (newspaper).
