Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

Joseph P. Klein was born in Prussia, Monday, August 5, 1833. He came with his parents to the United States in 1847, and settled in Dutches County, New York, where they lived up to 1832, when they came to Evanston Township. His father died there on Monday, February 7, 1870, and his mother July, 1874. Joseph P. Klein lived with his parents up to 1863, assisting them on the farm, which now forms part of the village of South Evanston.

Since the death of his parents, Joseph P. Klein has carried on the farm, He has been Overseer of Highways, for two terms; also Commissioner of Highways one term, and is now a school director of Rogers Park.

Joseph P. Klein was married to Catharine Klein, nee: Catharine Schmidt, of Prussia, Thursday, June 18, 1863.
