Using the term "Reverend" was sometimes used by leaders in non-Christian religions such as Judaism and Buddhism. So, it was not unusual for a Rabbi to have been listed as a "Reverend" in directories, phone books, etc. in the period around the transition period on either side of the 19th Century/20th Century.
