Biographical Sketches of Rogers Park

Robert M. Scholes, dealer in teas, coffees and spices, Chicago, was born in Belfast, Ireland, October 31. 1829. At the age of three he came with his parents, William Scholes and Jane Scholes to Montreal, Canada. His mother died when he was quite young, and his father in 1855. In 1860, he commenced the manufacture of brass work, which he continued up to 1865.

When he came to Chicago, he engaged in different employments up to 1876, the date or his present business.

He has resided in Rogers Park since 1880.

He was married to Isabella Scholes, nee: Isabella Brough, of Montreal, Canada, April 15,1851.
